This is obviously a test blog post to validate my markdown2html script. But if you don't know Isekai Ojisan (Uncle from Another World) and you like comedy and video games, you should watch or read it NOW.

There’s a reason Isekai Ojisan is my favorite manga/anime, this shit is the best gaming insert inside a different kind of media ever and it's extremely funny, the video game jokes and references are brilliant.

Basically, the plot is about a hardcore SEGA fan who falls into a coma for 17 years and is transported to another world during that time. In this new world, the Ojisan uses what he learned from SEGA games to come back home. Once he's back in 2017, he shows his past in the other world to his nephew Takafumi through his memories, while trying to use his magic powers to make money with YouTube videos.

20 Cartridges

Seriously, go watch or read Isekai Ojisan, you won't regret it. But this post isn't to talk about the series, it's to talk about a funny mistake made by the Brazilian voice acting team in episode 2 of the anime. Takafumi decides to buy a SEGA Saturn kit with 20 games for Ojisan as a birthday gift, but the Brazilian voice acting team translated it as "20 cartridges" instead of "20 games":

Um kit SEGA Saturno com 20 cartuchos.

In English:

A SEGA Saturn kit with 20 cartridges.

If you've already played something on a SEGA Saturn you may know that the Saturn uses CDs for its games, the SS cartridge slot is basically used to expand the console RAM and as a memory card, which makes things even funnier.

Guardian Heroes physical game, not a cartridge lolGuardian Heroes physical game, not a cartridge lol

SAROO

The funniest thing is that in recent years an open source project called SAROO was created. SAROO is basically a cartridge that allows you to play any SEGA Saturn game directly from an SD card without its original disc, so the Brazilian voice acting team wasn't completely wrong haha...

Elf and SAROOElf and SAROO

The most interesting thing about SAROO is that it allows you to play modified games and ROM hacks. As you may know, most SEGA Saturn games got stuck in Japan with Japanese language only. With the popularity of AI, fan translations have also become more frequent in the SEGA Saturn community, that's why I love SAROO. It allows me to play a lot of amazing translated games on my Saturn.

Obviously, SAROO isn't the only way to play modified games, you can also remove your Saturn disc reader and replace it with a Fenrir that works similarly to SAROO. But SAROO allows me to have a Saturn game collection and also play ROM hacks and translated games without modifying my Saturn. It also has the bonus of being a 1MB/4MB RAM extension and a memory card, all in one.

Other

Again, this is just a test post, so let me test some markdown features.
